Welcome to our County

The Florida Department of Health in Bradford County in partnership with New River Health is pleased to provide services to the residents and visitors of our county, and to be a leader in public healthcare in our community.
The Florida Department of Health (DOH) has named Amie Johns as the administrator of the Department of Health in Bradford and Union Counties. She has served with DOH in these counties since 2000, most recently in the role of the assistant county health department director.
Johns began her career in public health as a school nurse for the Department of Health in Bradford County, later in 2002 becoming the school health coordinator. In 2007, Johns became the Director of Nursing for the county health departments in Bradford and Union counties. She has served in various leadership roles as interim administrator for FDOH in Suwannee, Lafayette, Bradford, and Union counties and has been the Chief Executive Officer of New River Health since 2013.
"I can tell you that Ms. Johns is an absolute star in our department," said Paul Myers, Deputy Secretary for County Health Systems. "She's an experienced public health practitioner."
Johns graduated from the University of Florida-Gainesville with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1998. She received a Master of Public Health with a focus on public health practice in 2018 from the University of South Florida.
