Florida Department of Health in Bradford County

Welcome to our County

The New River Community Health Care Center in partnership with the Florida Department of Health in Bradford County is pleased to provide services to the residents and visitors of our county, and to be a leader in Public Healthcare in our community.

The Florida Department of Health (DOH) has named Joe Pietrangelo as the administrator of the Department of Health in Bradford and Union Counties. He has served with DOH in these counties since 2007, formerly in the role of operations manager.

Pietrangelo was previously responsible for the oversight and management of several programs including Healthy Start, abstinence education, tobacco prevention, and Healthy Communities/Healthy People. He also served as chronic disease specialist in DOH – Union and assisted with the development of grant proposals to fund essential services and activities.

“Mr. Pietrangelo has been a valuable public health leader in Bradford and Union Counties for many years,” said Dr. John Armstrong, State Surgeon General and Secretary of Health. “His expertise and knowledge will continue to advance these communities towards better health.”

Pietrangelo’s public health experience extends beyond his work in Bradford and Union. He also served as administrator for Miami-Dade County’s STD clinics and as clinic manager for the Comprehensive AIDS Program with the University of Miami’s Project Outreach.

Prior to his time in public health, Pietrangelo had a distinguished career in social work. He received a Bachelor’s degree in social work from Newark State College and a Master’s degree in social work from Rutgers University. Pietrangelo also completed academic course work in the Human Services Studies Doctoral Program at Cornell University.
